Spain’s leading La Fe hospital strongly believes in Barco display systems

Located in a new, state-of-the-art 260,000m2 building, the Spanish La Fe hospital (Valencia) aims to become the largest European health center. To support its healthcare leadership, it resolutely chooses the best technology available on the market. Its diagnostic and clinical review displays are labeled Barco: the hospital uses 59 Coronis Fusion and 20 MDRC-2120 display systems.

 

Dr. Luis Martí-Bonmatí, head of radiology at La Fe, is a long-time advocate of Barco’s medical display systems. “Barco is known as a reference beacon among radiologists,” he explained. “And our team was very happy working with Barco at the ‘old’ La Fe hospital. So when we needed a new fleet of medical displays for the new facility I contacted Barco.” A thorough assessment confirmed that the Barco display systems best met La Fe’s requirements as regards brightness, pixel pitch, the ability to view color as well as grayscale images and the monitor size.

51 Coronis Fusion 6MP DL displays were set up in La Fe’s radiology and nuclear imaging rooms. “It is so handy that both conventional radiographs and color images like Doppler US or CT parametric perfusion maps can be evaluated on the same display,” Dr. Martí-Bonmatí said. “Moreover, we can use the 30’’ Coronis Fusion as two seamless heads or one wide-screen display, which helps us to organize our workspace in a flexible and ergonomic way.”

Besides the large fleet of Coronis Fusion 6MP DL, La Fe also purchased four Barco Coronis 4MP DL and four 10MP display systems for breast imaging and 20 MDRC-2120 clinical review displays. The head radiologist and his team hope to further extend their cooperation with Barco in the future.
