Video mapping on France’s heritage churches? Our HDX projectors are up to it!

Blagnac, FR - 2018

Are traditions meant to be broken? Definitely not if they engage and entertain thousands of people! So, when the French city of Blagnac got nothing but positive comments about the video projection mapping that marked the opening of its Christmas market in 2016, they decided to repeat the event a year later – with different images, of course, yet with exactly the same partners: French AV expert Abaques Audiovisuel and Barco HDX projectors!

Why Barco?

  • Brightness
Never change a winning team
From 30 November to 3 December, three video mappings were broadcast every evening on the façade of Blagnac’s St. Pierre church. The city council chose its trusted partners: Ad Lib Créations to provide the artistic direction of the mapping and Abaques for the technical set-up. Just like in 2016, Abaques used two of our HDX-W20 projectors in Blagnac.

“Projecting a video mapping in 2D and 3D on a building is always a challenge, as the architecture must be respected to the millimeter. Moreover, St. Pierre’s church is constructed of red brick, which posed a challenge in terms of brightness levels. But once again, Barco projectors did a great job,” says Stephane Gambier, CEO at Abaques Audiovisuel. Also in December 2017, Abaques, Ad Lib Créations and Barco joined forces to power the ‘Looking for Santa’ video mapping on the surface of the Saint-Front Cathedral in Périgeux, in southwestern France. Here as well, our HDX-W20 projectors illuminated the search for Santa in the brightest of colors.
