ClickShare Conference (CX-20, CX-30, CX-50) in combination with Poly Studio X videobars (X30, X50/X52, X70 and G7500) offers a very high quality Bring Your Own Meeting (BYOM) experience to flexible room environments. CX-50 Gen2 expands the capabilities with automatic Appliance/Device Mode switching to simplify the meeting workflow.

ClickShare Conference offers wireless, easy-to-use, agnostic content sharing and conferencing from laptops. Poly Studio X videobars provide a room-based experience for MTR and other UC services (“Appliance Mode”) in addition to “Device Mode” whereby the audio and video peripherals can be used in a UC client on a laptop. Besides premium quality audio and video, the meeting experience is enhanced by blocking out distractions with Poly MeetingAI features, including Poly’s NoiseBlockAI machine learning audio algorithms. Poly’s DirectorAI makes the user feel connected with production-quality camera framing and tracking to capture the best angle of a speakers face regardless of where they are in the room. All the capabilities of ClickShare Conference and Poly Studio X devices come together to create meeting equity for hybrid environments.

Poly Studio X devices, in combination with ClickShare Conference solutions, are designed to be used in either Device Mode or Appliance Mode with Poly, Microsoft Teams (MTR) and other UC room deployments. When combined, a simple switch to Device Mode is possible via the TC8 controller or automatically when using a CX-50 Gen2.

Known issues

Here are some known issues and their status:

  • We have found this setup to be very sensitive to the cabling used to connect the Poly Studio X videobars to the ClickShare CX. It requires a high-quality USB cable and preferably USB-C to USB-C cable between the Poly and the CX device where the USB connection is applicable. In case of sporadic peripheral discovery, make sure to always check the cable first.

  • Audio distortion on CX-50 with Poly Studio X30, X50/X52, X70 and the G7500
This issue has been fixed in Poly 3.10 firmware.
  • CX-30 occasionally wakes up out of ECO standby when connected to a Poly Studio X in Zoom room mode
This has been fixed with the 2.10 release.
  • Poly Studio X series device mode does not work properly when connected to ClickShare Conference
This issue has been fixed in Poly 3.9 firmware.
  • CX-50 Gen2 switches the Poly Studio X to Device Mode when content with audio is played
This is changed with the 2.17 release whereby “ClickShare Speaker” will send audio over HDMI™ and not trigger a USB switch.
  • This setup is very sensitive to the USB cable used to connect the Poly Studio X videobars to the ClickShare CX device. It requires a high-quality USB cable and preferably USB-C to USB-C cable between the Poly and the CX device wherever possible (depending the exact connection/use case). In case of sporadic peripheral discovery, make sure to always check the cable first.
