Barco dresses Notre-Dame de Paris with spectacular light show

Paris, FR - 2018

In November 2017, thousands of Parisians and visitors were treated to a unique lighting spectacle at the Notre-Dame Cathedral. A musical and visual trip through the iconic building’s history and architecture was told on the cathedral’s façade. While the audience looked on in awe, plants started growing, snow covered the roofs and ornaments, animals appeared, and water cascaded from the building’s many notches and edges.

In the City of Light
The technical side of the spectacle at Notre-Dame was handled by Novelty Group, an event specialist from France. The presentation, developed by artistic director Bruno Seillier, lasted for 23 minutes and was shown twice per night.

For this project, Novelty decided to partner up with Barco, which provided eight HDF-W30 FLEX projectors. With an output of 30,000 lumens, the HDF-W30 is particularly well-suited to large venues, even when there is a high level of ambient light – a point worthy of consideration in the City of Light. Thanks to Barco’s cutting-edge ImagePRO technology for optimum scaling power, Novelty was able to perfectly align the images with the contours of the incredibly detailed building, offering the audience a memorable show.
