5,000 cameras at 100 sites all monitored on 1 video wall
Patanjali produces natural healthcare products using ingredients grown at over 100 different sites following environmentally friendly Good Manufacturing Practices. With the intent of keeping an eye on the feed from 5,000 cameras monitoring their 100 different production sites, they wanted to incorporate their 15 SCADA layouts, 2,000 internet links and BI/BO analytics into a single, central control centre.
“We searched for the key player in the video wall market and discovered Barco is the oldest player and a highly respected one at that,” explains Manish Gaur, Head of IT at Patanjali. “We spoke to a number of their competitors, but Barco was the frontrunner in terms of product quality, total cost of ownership and service quality.”
The solution Barco proposed was an 8x2 MVL-721 Full HD LED video wall. However, Patanjali was still worried about the alignment and the ability of the video wall to process such an enormous amount of input.
“We explained our concerns to Barco. They listened and soon responded with a technical solution that they translated into a user-friendly interface,” says Manish Gaur. “It met all our needs. But then Barco also gave us targeted training focusing on what we needed to know. The entire team using this video is new, yet they’re absolutely comfortable with it. It’s that user-friendly, despite the complicated technology behind it.”
The entire project, including the construction of the central command centre in a remote location, took eight months to complete, with one and a half months devoted to the installation of the video screen. There were several stakeholdersinvolved, but coordination was smooth. Patanjali was also impressed with Barco’s support. A dedicated contact person was available at all times and representatives were prepared to travel out for site visits whenever required.
“Barco did all we could ask of them. They have delivered exactly what we needed. In fact,” says Manish Gaur, “we are now planning smaller video walls at other locations. Barco will be supplying 2x1 MVL-721 video walls for us. It will allow us to create a child-root relationship between the smaller video walls and this central video wall.”
