Context
Born from the desire to bring people & art together, Art Basel has cultivated communities for more than 50 years. With a particular emphasis on digital media art, Art Basel in Miami Beach has gained international recognition for its yearly exhibition of works by modern and contemporary masters, as well as up-and-coming talents.
This prestigious art fair is the perfect stage for d'strict, a Korean digital design firm known for its groundbreaking installations which push the boundaries of art through cutting-edge technology, to unveil their latest digital masterpieces along with curated highlights from their ARTE MUSEUM exhibitions.
Challenge
In addition, with their showcase in the VIP lounge at Art Basel, d’strict aims to position themselves in front of global cultural dignitaries and introduce stakeholders to their suite of media art services. It means they need to craft an installation that showcases their prowess in digital media art.
Solution
To realize their vision with immersive allure, d'strict turns to Barco. The centerpiece of the installation is a Barco RigiFlex screen, spanning 6 meters by 1.5 meters, powered by three UDX-4K 40,000 lumens laser projectors bringing to life d'strict's featured highlights from the mesmerizing ARTE MUSEUM exhibition content to a planar version of their renowned public media art series such as WHALE and Starry Beach.
The proprietary rear-projection Barco Rigiflex backdrop made of thin light-weight material serves the digital media design with unparalleled image quality and reliability and allows d'strict to deliver an immersive visual experience that transcends conventional artistic boundaries and resonates with the discerning audience at Art Basel VIP Lounge.
“With Barco's state-of-the-art technology, we were able to deliver a stunning showcase, solidifying our position as innovators in the intersection of art and technology,” says Jun Lee, the managing director of the Global Business Development division at d’strict.
Results
Building on the success of their collaboration at Art Basel, d'strict remains committed to pushing the boundaries of artistic expression through Barco-powered digital media technology. The firm continues to explore new avenues for innovation, with plans to expand its ARTE MUSEUM concept to additional locations worldwide, bringing immersive art experiences to diverse audiences.
