On the morning of 21 May, Barco opened the Barco (Wuxi) Technology Co., Ltd. production and R&D center. The opening of Barco Wuxi demonstrates Barco’s commitment to deeply cultivate the Chinese market. Barco’s strategy is not only “In China, for China”, but also “In China, for the world”. Barco Wuxi will focus on Barco’s engineering projector business.
Barco Wuxi will further strengthen the localization of technology research and development, solution design, production, and after-sales support of Barco engineering projectors by integrating global resources and using local advantages, thus enhancing the ecological chain construction.
At this opening ceremony, Barco guided the guests on a tour of the newly established Wuxi Production and R&D Center, showcasing innovative technologies and new products. The Barco Wuxi production and R&D center cover an area of 15,000 square meters, featuring advanced automated warehousing and material picking systems, equipped with automated internal logistics and production assembly lines. It plans an annual production capacity of over 20,000 projectors and key components, with a 1,620 square meter storage space standing 24 meters high, accommodating approximately 7,000 pallets lots and 20,000 box lots.
The attendees at the event included H.E. Bruno Angelet, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to China; Ms. Gao Yaguang, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal People’s Congress; Mr. Tao Bo, Director of the Wuxi Municipal Science and Technology Bureau; Mr. Zhao Qiang, Director of the Wuxi Municipal Commerce Bureau; Mr. Zhan Yi, Director of the Wuxi Municipal Foreign Affairs Office; and district leaders such as Gu Wenhao and Yan Guoqiang. Charles Beauduin, Co-CEO of Barco also attended the ceremony. Industry partners and media were also invited to witness a new milestone in Barco’s local deployment in China.
In recent years, China’s professional AV system integration market has been continuously developing. Under the guidance of policies and driven by investments, the demand for projection equipment in cultural tourism night tours, cultural and museum exhibitions, stage performances, and higher education and research fields is growing, presenting broad market prospects.
The establishment of the engineering projectors production and research center in Wuxi is to implement Barco's localization strategy in China, which not only brings Barco closer to Chinese customers, shortening the R&D and market response time, but also a better understanding of Chinese customer needs through localized R&D and production.
