When using the ClickShare CX-series Base Unit with a peripheral camera in conjunction with a specific range of AMD-powered laptops certain issues with the camera feed image may arise during video calls.

Following are the symptoms:

  • Yellowish tint or distortion in the displayed image
  • Black flashes appearing on the screen intermittently
  • Complete absence of image from the connected camera (i.e. camera failing to show any image altogether)

Root Cause:

We have investigated the root cause of these symptoms and have come to the conclusion that the AMD video driver crashes when the chroma subsampling changes in the video stream when that is required from the peripheral. The issue was successfully resolved  and AMD has Drivers holding the fix, these are the Adrenalin Edition (23.19.16, Win10/11 only) is scheduled to webpost 20 July 2024 and the Pro Edition (23.19.16.01) is scheduled for Aug 1st.

Solution:

Please only verify with latest AMD drivers as specified above and latest ClickShare CX Base Unit firmware version to verify if this resolves the issue.

Be aware AMD has developed a fix driver but can not push it to the laptop's PC manufacturers using AMD to include this in their dedicated updates. Currently, along with AMD, we are reaching out to various PC Manufacturers asking them to include the fix in their update packages with limited response. If you encounter this issue please inform you PC vendor to reach out to AMD on this subject and include latest AMD packages in to the update packages to assist in resolving the problem.
