Over three million Muslims travel to Mecca each year for the Hajj – their traditional ‘journey to the Holy City’. The Saudi authorities make sizeable investments to ensure the security of the pilgrims, with Barco and Samir Group as two of their trusted partners.
Monitoring healthcare services
Efforts to raise safety levels during the pilgrimage are key for the Saudi Ministry of Health. The health authorities therefore use various methods to raise awareness, such as installing displays and mobile billboards throughout the city, distributing leaflets, and messaging on TV. In addition, no fewer than 21 hospitals (7,000-bed capacity) are available to provide healthcare services, besides countless ambulances. In 2012, the Ministry even set up a dedicated command center, equipped with a Barco video wall, to monitor all the medical services in Mecca (hospital, ambulances, paramedics, etc.).
