The ClickShare Windows Driver allows you to automatically launch the ClickShare Button App when you plug in a ClickShare Button into an USB port of your Windows PC. It's an alternative to the automatic launching mechanisms of the ClickShare Desktop App or the ClickShare Launcher (part of the ClickShare Extension Pack).

Usage guidelines

To guarantee the ClickShare Windows Driver is always able to launch the ClickShare Button App we advise the following:

  • On the Windows PC: always upgrade to the latest compatible ClickShare Windows Driver version available in the Microsoft Update Catalog (or Barco Software Download Center).
  • On the ClickShare Base Units: upgraded to the latest available ClickShare release but minimum the following ClickShare release versions should be installed:
    • CS(E)-series:  1.10.0 or higher
    • CB/C/CX-series: 2.05.0 or higher

Compatibility

The table below outlines the compatibility of the latest 2 ClickShare Windows Driver versions with different firmware versions of ClickShare devices and Windows Operating Systems:

ClickShare Windows Driver
Version 1.20Version 1.24
  • CB-series: 2.18 to 2.20
  • C/CX-series: 2.05.0 to 2.20
  • CS(E)-series: 1.10.0 to 1.11.11.3
  • CB-series: All versions
  • C/CX-series: 2.05.0 and higher
  • CS(E)-series: 1.10.0 and higher1

Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are no longer supported!

1 To use the ClickShare Windows Driver version 1.24.0 with ClickShare CS(E)-series devices, you must download and install the ClickShare Windows Driver manually.

2 On Windows 7, 8.0, and 8.1, it is necessary to manually install or upgrade the ClickShare Windows Driver to 1.20.0 (or up) via the Device Manager (admin rights required). The latest compatible ClickShare Windows Driver publicly available in the Windows Update Store is 1.18.0, but this version will fail to launch the ClickShare Button App when ClickShare Buttons paired with an up-to-date Base Unit are plugged in.

3 Use the installer in the Windows 10 64-bit when installing on Windows 11.

Automatic driver update

Once a ClickShare Button is plugged into the PC, the Microsoft Driver Update mechanism will attempt to automatically download and install / update the ClickShare Windows Driver when

  1. Automatic driver update is enabled on your PC (In corporate environments, automatic Windows Driver updates might be disabled by the IT administrators).
  2. A new ClickShare Windows Driver is available for your Windows Operating System in the Microsoft Update Catalog
  3. You use a ClickShare Button Gen4 / 4.1 (a.k.a. buttons of a C/CX/CB series)

If either of above requirements are not met, the ClickShare Windows Driver will either not be installed or be unable to launch the ClickShare Button App automatically.

Typical scenarios where this will fail are:

  • You've plugged in a button that is paired with a CS(E) series
  • Automatic driver update is disabled by the IT administrators
  • You're running Windows 7, 8 or 8.1

If restrictions apply to above you can use following alternatives to deploy the Barco ClickShare Windows Driver 1.24.

  • Manually launching the ClickShare App via File Explorer is still possible and you can still download and install the latest compatible ClickShare Windows Driver manually (this requires an Administrator profile).
  • Use the PNPUTIL command to deploy the driver : Run the command below in the Command Prompt with Administrator rights in the System32 folder: "PNPUTIL /add-driver BarcoClickShareDrv.inf"
