For whitelisting the ClickShare Button you can use the PID (productID) and VID (vendorID) of the button. The serial number on the Button sticker is NOT used by the USB connection and cannot be used for whitelisting.

Keep in mind that the exact steps may vary based on the security software you are using, so refer to the documentation provided by your antivirus or security suite for specific instructions.

When a whitelisting system demands not only PID and VID but also the logical serial number of USB devices this article can assist.

ClickShare Buttons used by CS(E) Base Units

Since firmware release 1.8.1 (of CS-100, CSE-200, CSE-200+, CSE-800), the logically embedded Serial Numbers (SN) are exposed as shown below. Depending on the capability of the Base Unit, Barco recommends including both logical serial numbers to the whitelist.

  • 02.00.00.01.12.00.0000_0000 for Buttons with mass storage & audio
  • 02.00.00.01.12.00.0000_0001 for Buttons with mass storage and without audio
  • VID: 0x0600
  • PID: 0x009F

For the older legacy Base Units CSM-1/CSC-1 with button part number R9861006D01 have VID_0600 and PID_0070.

ClickShare Buttons used by C series, CX series Base Units and CB Core/Pro

The button USB configuration depends on user settings (audio enable/disable) and attached peripherals (camera/speakerphone). Each configuration has its own SN, this avoid conflicts with cached configurations (identified by SN) in Windows. An internal USB hub exposes 2 USB devices. The hub has VID 0x05E3 and PID 0x0610.

Hardware ID of the Gen4.x (i.e. C and CX series) ButtonUSB\VID_0600&PID_00CE
productIDUSB\VID_0600&PID_00CE\3188790003

Identical functionality to the CS(E). The Button has serial number 318879000x (logical), where x is a variable value. In this case x=3, the button reports audio and monitor to the host OS.

xDescriptionComment
1CDROM onlyThe Button starts out as flash drive and evolves to a read-only CDROM (to clear windows internal issues)
3CDROM + speakerIn addition to the CDROM, the ClickShare speaker (TV or audio device) is exposed to the OS.

RoomDock example (Port2)

Enhanced functionality from the CS(E). The Button Port2 has logical i-serial number 37462100xx – where xx is a variable value (see below table). In this case we see 3746210011.

xxDescription
01Camera only
02Speakerphone only
03Camera + speakerphone
10Speakerphone + speakerphone HID
11Camera + speakerphone + speakerphone HID

Important considerations

The Gen4.x (i.e. C series, CX series and CB Core/Pro) Button splits functionality between logical ports in the button, Port 1 is used for basic functionality and Port 2 for enhanced RoomDock.  It is recommended to use VID/PID pairs in your whitelist and not include the i-serial.
In case your specific firewall requires the additional security you can use the logical i-serial:

Barco recommended you include all permutations of the i-serial, this reflects that the user may not know what functionality is in different rooms.
These are all the i-serial permutations of the Gen 4.x Button:
Note: prior to firmware 2.10 the button i-serial was 218879000x on port 1
3188790001, 3188790003, 3746210001, 3746210002, 3746210003, 3746210010, 3746210011

Info! Add the following path to the whitelist or execution list of the virus/security scanner running on the computer in order to allow the ClickShare Windows Driver automatically launching the ClickShare App, present on the button, when a button is plugged into the computer.  "C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Temp\{1F0A14E8-9535-4390-A660-EA5B9B5F32E3}\ClickShareButtonApp-*.exe"
